I didn't do an update a few weeks ago about going to the Baltimore Comic Con.  I don't have any pictures...There was really nothing to photograph.  We got up there later than we would have liked, but still had a nice time.  We drove up with a friend, got stuck in traffic and got there around 3.  It ended at 5.  Ooops.  Oh well, we still picked up a few things we had been looking for and a few extras, had a nice dinner at Edo Sushi and walked around the Inner Harbor area.  The drive home wasn't too bad.

This past Sunday we went to H2O International.  It's a VW show and it's held in Ocean City.  We left late as usual, but had a nice, relaxing drive up and stopped for lunch at one of those little roadside seafood places that was really clean and nice.  The food was good too.  We were making great time until we got stuck behind a tractor with some large tilling attatchment on the back, but he was nice enough to pull over some to let people pass when he could.  We got to the show, parked and went in to look around.

After five years, Yuko came to the East coast again to visit.  The last time I saw her was 5 years ago when I met her in NYC.  The last time she was in Richmond was 1997.  For those of you that don't know, Yuko was my exchange student in high school.  When she came here she wasn't very good with English despite her father being a Linguisics professor.  She flew into Richmond on Saturday and was only able to stay for three days.

Having another club down the street from one of your other clubs is rather useful.  Especially when the power goes out for no good reason.  You just grab your CDs and head to the other club.  :D

The power did come back on at 2:45am.

The whole thing was bizarre.  We heard a transformer blew, but also heard there was a wreck.  We're pretty sure it was just a transformer though.

Baby seeeester is finally moving out of my parent's house!  She got a job w/ the FBI as a fingerprint tech, which is what she was doing for the VA State Police.

She won't be moving anytime soon though.  It takes 6 months to a year to complete background checks.  Still it's pretty cool though I won't have anyone to house sit.  The pups will be sad b/c they'll have to go to my parent's house or a kennel when I go out of town.

I hate summer.

Right now it's 94 degrees in the DJ booth and that's with the exhaust fan and ceiling fan.  It's still better than our first summer open...it was 100+ in the booth.

Though there is an advantage...No one wants to stay up here and bother me.

Mwahahahaha.

At least the floor is cold.

Apparently lost dogs in this area have decided that this is the house to come to.

Earlier this year, a dog showed up and last night a really friendly Pit Bull mix showed up. He had just be adopted from the SPCA and already had gotten away from his owners. It really makes me wonder about people. He had just had surgery on his eyes and still had the stitches in. Animal control picked him up and said they'd get him back to the SPCA or his owners. Though he mentioned that he wondered if the owners would get him back since he'd obviously just been adopted. At least this dog had some sort of tags. The last one just had a collar.

He's lucky he showed up here though. He did scare me a little though because he was all black, with a black collar, and snuck up on me in the driveway. He was definetly a Pit Bull, so I'm sure if he had walked up to the wrong person, they would have flipped out or worse, he could have been found by some scummy types that were into dog fighting or other shady things.

It was pretty funny though, he follwed me through the gate and up to the back door like he lived here. I would have let him live here too if I could have. I don't let the dogs out of my sight when they're outside, especially if they've just had surgery. People suck.

Next time I go on vacation, I don't think I'll come back. Things have gone straight to hell since I got home. Apparently I'm not allowed to relax and have fun.

We have returned from Vegas. I didn't take a lot of pictures. You're not really allowed to take them in the casinos. I probably could have, but they would have just been pictures of Nemo or I sitting at a video poker machine. We didn't win any huge jackpots. We did have a lot of fun though.

We got to our hotel and discovered that it's being turned into the Planet Hollywood casino. I had this image in my head of what a casino looks like and because of the construction, it looked different. We wandered around the mall there and got some food. Played a few things in the casino. Right off I won $4. I didn't win huge amounts, but I managed to win a few dollars here and there.

We wandered over to the Rio to see Penn & Teller. I got our tickets a while ago, so we were in the third row. It was a lot of fun even though there were a few hecklers.  The ones behind us shut up after [info]ednemo glared at them.  I tried to get them to take him up on stage for the bullet trick, but they picked two other guys.  He got them to sign one of his books after the show and I got pictures.

After that we wandered back to the hotel and went to sleep.

Monday, we ended up wandering all the way down to the Stratosphere.  It's a long way...I have a tendencey to wander though, so we'd walk to a casino, play a few games, then wander to the next one.  I found the Sanrio store and got some Hello Kitty stuff and wandered some more.  Then we ended up at the Stratosphere.  Since we were there, we decided to go ahead and go up for the view.  I'm not a fan of heights and was OK as long as we were in the inside part.  I was only outside for a minute and there was NO way in hell I was riding any of the rides on top of the tower.  We talked to an Elvis impersonator and then decided to take the monorail back down to our hotel.  Someone gave us a pass with an hour left on it, so we got to ride for free.  We made the mistake of having the sushi buffet for dinner.  We did a buffet for lunch and walked it all off.  Dinner just sat in our tummies.  Lesson learned: only have buffet for lunch, not dinner.

After dinner, we saw the fountain show at the Bellagio.  We could kind of see it from our hotel room, but not the whole thing.  Here's a kind of crappy pic.  I only took a few of it since I actually wanted to watch it instead of snapping pics the whole time.

Tuesday was our last full day so we headed to the New Rock store.  It wasn't a problem getting a cab there, but trying to get back was another story.  I got shoes and [info]ednemo got boots.  We got some extra goodies too.  I was going to get a pair of boots that I've been eyeing for years, but getting them back would have been entertaining.  We had enough problems getting our stuff back without me getting springy platform boots.  We ended up taking the bus back and went to see the tigers at the Mirage.  Then we dropped our stuff off at the hotel and wandered down the other end of the strip.  We got to the MGM in time to see them feed the lions and we got to see M&M world.  It's really just a store where you can buy lots of M&Ms stuff.  They have all the different colored M&Ms.  I was told they had ice cream there, but we couldn't find it.  I also found Weinerschnitzel.  I hate hot dogs, but like their pretzel buns.  We also found a bubble tea place and got some bubble tea.  It still wasn't as good as what they had at Pearl Tea in Stony Point, but wasn't bad.  We wandered down to the other casinos on that end of the strip, then headed to our hotel, packed and went to sleep.

Coming back to Richmond always sucks.  I always end up on a tiny plane.  My bag didn't even fit in the overhead of the plane from Pittsburgh to Richmond.  We get back to Richmond and ALL of the women's bathrooms were closed, causing me to start yelling about it, which got them to open one pretty quickly.  The construction there is a joke.  It's still Richmond...I still can't fly back into the city on a real plane.  I can fly out on one, but not back.  I didn't have to pay much for parking though.  My parents picked up my car, so I only had to pay $2 to park. :D

Now I'm getting ready to go back to work.

Today is one of those days where I should not touch ANYTHING, yet I got on my computer anyway...I'm sure it will burst into flames any second now...

I got my new tires for my new wheels on Monday, took them to shop #1 who couldn't do them since they were "low profile." OK, took them to shop 2, dropped them off and picked them up this after noon. I get the front passenger side wheel on w/ no problems. I take the rear passenger wheel off and the car slips on the jack right in front of me. I check it out and get the new wheel on and now the car is perched on the jack and I'm going to need a new one.

I always check it when I'm jacking up the car and this is the side with the messed up side skirt thanks to the concrete at my parents house. I'm thinking that because I was using the "widowmaker*" from the car and the side skirt was messed up it caused the car to fall. So now I'll wait here until [info]ednemo gets home so I can use his jack to put the other two wheels on.

While my car is stuck in the air, I decide to put the old wheels away and other things I didn't need away. I start putting things in the shed and shut the door and the whole door jam comes out and the door almost comes down on the dogs and I. I got it perched just right and moved out of the way.

So now I'm going to sit on the couch and not touch anything...I think I'm safely out of the way of anything other heavy things falling on me here.

*widowmaker is the nickname for the horrible scissor jack that came w/ VWs.
